Where are Sebastopol’s sister cities?
Sebastopol has two sister cities; Takeo, Japan and Chyhyryn, Ukraine.
What does Sebastopol World Friends do?
SWF runs a variety of programs that develop cultural ties between sister city communities by sending people back and forth. These programs typically include middle and high school exchanges and occasional civic exchanges as well as hosting or sending delegations studying topics such as Sustainable Development or Accountable Governance. Please see Takeo Programs and Chyhyryn Programs for current details.
Who is eligible to participate in exchanges?
Families and individuals in the greater Sebastopol area are welcome to get involved by applying for placement in one of our exchanges, or by hosting an international guest delegate visiting Sebastopol on a brief homestay.
Our programs are typically very low-cost as they are built around homestays and volunteer efforts by World Friends communities here and in our sister cities. We do also offer financial assistance to families and individuals who qualify. If you are interested in one of our exchange programs and want to learn more, please get in touch with our program directors.
SWF also offers cultural events from time to time, some open to our membership and some to the general public.
How do I get involved?
We offer opportunities for hosting and volunteering and always welcome new memberships and donations.
